It was a bright summer morning, and [Maisie](ZFW46GQP), a little girl with golden pigtails, was out playing beside [Mr. Potters](SB73S9K6)' garden with her best friends: [Pickles](YVMZVP2S), a small, bouncy puppy with floppy ears, and [Cluckers](B6BL4NDL), her silly pet chicken who always wore a blue hat. But suddenly, a cry echoed from the garden!

‘My prize-winning carrots are gone!’ [Mr. Potters](SB73S9K6) wailed, waving his gardening spade. [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) gasped. ‘Who would take your carrots, [Mr. Potters](SB73S9K6)?’ she asked, looking at the empty patch of soil.

At the flower bed, [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) spotted some nibble marks on the leaves. [Pickles](YVMZVP2S) barked and wagged his tail at some small footprints in the soil. ‘Look, clues!’ [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) exclaimed, getting closer to inspect.

Following the trail, they wandered into the shed. ‘Oh no, what a mess!’ [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) cried. Tools and bags of seeds were scattered everywhere. But in the corner, [Pickles](YVMZVP2S) barked at something shiny.

'The thief must have dropped this!' [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) said, picking up the shiny carrot-shaped charm. [Cluckers](B6BL4NDL) clucked in agreement, her blue hat tilted dramatically. The group dashed toward the apple trees for more clues.

By the apple trees, the trio spotted a frantic squirrel stuffing something orange into its tiny arms. ‘Aha! The thief!’ [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) shouted as the squirrel darted up a tree.

[Maisie](ZFW46GQP) thought quickly. She placed an apple under the tree. ‘Come down, little squirrel,’ she said softly. Tempted by the treat, the squirrel scampered down.

The squirrel dropped the carrots and nibbled the apple happily. [Maisie](ZFW46GQP), [Pickles](YVMZVP2S), and [Cluckers](B6BL4NDL) gathered the carrots and returned them to [Mr. Potters](SB73S9K6), who was overjoyed.

‘Thank you, [Maisie](ZFW46GQP), and thank you, [Pickles](YVMZVP2S) and [Cluckers](B6BL4NDL)!’ [Mr. Potters](SB73S9K6) said with a big grin. [Maisie](ZFW46GQP) beamed. ‘All in a day’s work!’ she replied. The friends laughed together, under the bright, happy sun.
