[Olsen](7CNMHQWP) the Osprey liked to tell himself every day that he was a skilled hunter. Every high tide, with wings stretched wide, he soared high above the inlets, scanning the water for a meal.

1

He searched… and searched… and searched. Then—there! A dark shape moved in the sand at the mouth of the river beneath the clear blue water, not far from a large, floating log.

2

[Olsen](7CNMHQWP) stopped mid-air, flipped upside down, and locked his sharp eyes on his target. He tucked his wings, angled his dive, and—SPLASH!—plunged talons-first into the waves.

3

His claws dug deep into the dark spot. But—uh-oh. A giant wall of white water was rushing toward him! CRASH! The wave slammed into him, pushing him back. Instead of flying away with his meal, [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) was now just… floating.

4

The wave had also pushed the log closer. Then—the log blinked. Logs don’t blink. And logs definitely don’t have sharp teeth. [Olsen](7CNMHQWP)’s heart pounded. He had made a terrible mistake.

5

[Olsen](7CNMHQWP) had stolen its meal. The water churned as the crocodile flicked its powerful tail, sending ripples straight toward him. [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) flapped—hard. Nothing. He was too wet, too heavy. His talons were still gripping his catch.

6

The crocodile’s head rose higher. Yellow eyes locked onto the struggling osprey. Its jaws opened—wider… wider… [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) yanked on his catch. His talons refused to let go.

7

The crocodile lunged! [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) shrieked and pulled one last time—POP! A stingray came loose in his claws! The crocodile’s massive jaws SNAPPED shut—right where [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) had been just a second before.

8

With every ounce of strength left, [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) wrenched himself upward, just as the croc’s teeth snapped shut beneath him. Dripping wet, heart pounding, [Olsen](7CNMHQWP) shot into the sky.

9

On a nearby branch, an egret watched the whole thing. Completely unfazed, the egret fluffed its feathers, looked at [Olsen](7CNMHQWP), and said: “Amateur.”
