Dottie's Kindy Jitters

It was Monday! Kindy Day! [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) had red hair, ponytails, a freckly face, and a big gap where her front tooth used to be. She was excited for kindy—but also a little nervous. “What time will you get me?” she said to [Mum](2S9QRL75), she also wondered. “And what if [Eli](V9L9J4CD) steals my lunch?”

[Eli](V9L9J4CD) was a boy with wild curls and a big, booming laugh. He always seemed to be up to something cheeky. “I just know he’s going to take my sandwich,” [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) whispered to her [Mum](2S9QRL75). Her mum smiled. “Sometimes people surprise you, [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z), if you give them a chance.”

When [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) arrived at kindy, the room was full of new faces. Some kids were drawing, others were playing with blocks. Then she saw [Eli](V9L9J4CD). He was playing with some kids near the dress-up box. [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) clutched her lunchbox tightly.

During playtime, a girl named [Sophie](RTGJ5G4F) asked [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) to help build a castle. [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) hesitated. “But… what if I don’t build it right?” [Sophie](RTGJ5G4F) giggled. “There’s no wrong way! Let’s build it together.” [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) smiled. Maybe kindy wasn’t so scary after all.

At lunchtime, [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) sat with [Sophie](RTGJ5G4F) and [Lissy](9BFN92KS). She was having fun, but she always kept an eye on [Eli](V9L9J4CD). Gulp!!!! He walked towards the lunch tables, and [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) held her breath. "This is it," she thought. But [Eli](V9L9J4CD) didn’t even glance at her lunchbox. He simply sat down on his seat, opened his own lunch, and happily started eating. [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) felt a little silly. Maybe she had been wrong about [Eli](V9L9J4CD) all along.

By the end of the day, [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) had built a castle, played on the monkey bars, and laughed until her cheeks hurt. She even shared a sandpit cupcake with [Lissy](9BFN92KS)! “I love kindy!” [Dottie](HSCPNN9Z) told [Mum](2S9QRL75) at pick-up time. [Mum](2S9QRL75) smiled. “I knew you would.”
